The CBF Statement of Faith and Practice
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, truth without error, clear and powerful in its message, sufficient for all of our needs, and the final authority for faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1: 19-21)
We believe in the triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - who is holy, loving, good, wise and almighty; who has created all things by his word out of nothing, who sustains, provides for and rules all things, who is our only Redeemer and who will judge all people. (Ex. 20:23; 1 Cor. 8:6; Rev. 4:11)
We believe that God created men and women in his image and likeness for fellowship with himself and to carry out the creation mandates; that Adam sinned and that by his disobedience the entire race was alienated from God, depraved and totally lost. (Gen. 1 & 2; Col. 1:16-17; Rom. 3:23)
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ who added full humanity to his perfect deity, obeyed God perfectly, died for our sins on the cross, rose again to defeat Satan, returned to heaven to pour out the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and to intercede for his people. (John 1:14; John 20:27; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1 & 2)
We believe that those who repent of their sins and put their trust in Christ alone and his finished work on their behalf are forgiven, regenerated and eternally secure. (Eph. 2:8; John 3:16; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 John 5:13)
We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin, sanctifies and gifts believers for ministry. We believe the gifts of prophecy, speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, and the other sign gifts (1 Cor 12:8-10) were given for the authentication of the Apostle's ministry and edification of the young church, but that Divine revelation ceased (including tongues and prophecy) with the completion of Scriptures. (1 Cor. 13:8-13; 1 Cor. 12:4-11; Rev. 22:18-19)
We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ at any moment, the bodily resurrection and final judgment of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost. (1 Thess. 4:11-18; 1 Cor. 15:42-44)
We believe in baptism by immersion as a public statement of faith and is to be practiced by the local church. (Matt. 28; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39; Acts 2:41-42)
We emphasize and encourage active participation in local churches that hold similar statements of faith. (1 Cor. 12:12-13; Eph. 1:22-23; Eph 3:1-6)
We believe in the reality of Satan and his kingdom of darkness, and that our confrontation of Satan demands belief and trust in God and the effective use of Scripture and other resources God has made available to us. (Matt. 4:1-11; 2 Cor. 4:4; Rev. 20:10)
We desire to equip students for a Christian life of ministry and service. Preparing them to engage the world of education, business, economics, politics, the sciences, the humanities from a thoroughly biblical worldview which acknowledges that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." (Eph. 4:12-15)
